After Chip leaves, Kisha shows Malcolm a video of her eighth birthday, in which she began to experience paranormal activity by her imaginary friend, Tony. The next night, Kisha gets out of bed in the middle of the night, stands by the bed for several hours, and begins to dance. Malcolm wakes up and follows Kisha to the kitchen, where he catches her eating uncooked food and drinking old milk. Most of the paranormal encounters reported at the Hassayampa Inn involve a ghost named Faith. Ghost hunters have long claimed northern Arizona boasts a unique history of paranormal encounters — especially in some of the region's oldest hotels. Multi-talented Marlon Wayans graduated from the prestigious High School of Performing Arts in New York and Howard University’s Film School. Back in the 1980s, the standard for spoof came at the hands of Jim Abrahams and David and Jerry Zucker. These were the guys that brought us Airplane, Naked Gun, and Top Secret. They knew how to balance lampoon of established material with unique sight gags and slapstick.

As much as it would seem apt to judge Scary Movie as a cheap imitation of these masters, David Zucker and Jim Abrahams actually came aboard for the woefully inept Scary Movie 4. To continue lording their work over the Scary Movie series is hypocritical. Marlon Wayans will return to star and co-write this horror spoof follow-up, with production slated to begin this summer. Guests and employees have reported hearing crying throughout the hotel and noticed the disappearance of random objects over the years. Others have reported feeling cold spots in the honeymoon suite where the smell of flowers often emanates from the empty room. Some people have even reported seeing Faith’s spirit in the form of a translucent shadow donned in a pink gown, and on rare occasions, holding a bouquet of flowers. This send up of the Paranormal Activity films provides a few laughs here and there, but for the most part its crude and clichd script is ridiculously stupid, embarrassingly over the top and occasionally offensive. Marlon Wayans, Essence Atkins, Affion Crockett and Dave Sheridan reprise their roles from the original spoof comedy in this sequel. A chef’s kitchen and breakfast room with custom built-ins is the ideal gathering spot for any family (especially one as big as the Wayans family!), while the family/media room also has its own fireplace. It opens out to the backyard, providing a sense of indoor/outdoor flow. If we may offer any advice at all to co-writer Marlon Wayans, it would be to look to his brother’s I’m Gonna Get You Sucka for screenplay structure inspiration; clever standalone jokes, minimized toilet humor.
Malcolm and Kisha anger the ghost by ignoring it, so it attacks Kisha in the night while Malcolm listens to music, through headphones, on his computer. In the morning, Malcolm notices something is wrong with Kisha and calls Father Doug to do an exorcism. Before Malcolm and Doug find her, Doug accidentally shoots and kills Rosa, who had come to pick up her last check. When they all meet in the living room, Kisha behaves very strangely and flees to the basement. When Malcolm reaches for her, she attacks him, and the whole group beats her up, apparently forcing the ghost out of her body. The second floor houses a Theater Room Museum where distinct outlines of sleeping bodies have been found in the dust on the beds — sightings that have been attributed to a former chambermaid.
When Malcolm finds out, he calls his cousin Ray Ray, who immediately flees when he sees the ghost's powers. That same night, Kisha waits for the ghost until it gets late and leaves. While the hotel no longer provides overnight accommodations for guests, visitors can still enjoy a bar and restaurant on the ground floor and a museum on the upper floors. In between ghost encounters, guests can enjoy their stay in a variety of modern rooms and have lunch and dinner on-site at the award-winning Asylum Restaurant during their visit. Guests also might hear an unexpected knock at the door and a muffled voice announcing “room service” courtesy of The Phantom Bellboy. Some people have reported seeing the figure of a bellboy standing outside of room 210, including legendary actor John Wayne during a few of his stays at the hotel.
These of course are just the movies we can tell will be skewered based on the trailers. The movie stars, and was co-written by, Marlon Wayans; herein lies the potential for concern. The Wayans Brothers — Marlon, Damon, Shawn, and Keenen Ivory — have been making films together, or at least collaborating on each other’s projects, for a long time. Though Damon has been involved the least, over the years they have put-together a number of comedies designed to lampoon certain film genres and trends. In 2000, Keenen Ivory directed a film written, at least in part, by his brothers Shawn and Marlon. It was called Scary Movie, and, like A Haunted House, it took aim at the spate of horror films popular at the time of its release.
